  
This report describes the principal sillimanite deposits in North Carolina. In the first comprehensive report on a new mineral it is desirable to give a complete description of the geology of the mineral, but time allotted to the study did not permit detailed geological studies; therefore, this phase of the report has been kept to a minimum. An attempt has been made to assemble the data in such form that they would be of use to those who are interested in prospecting, mining, and using sillimanite. By Lewis J. Hash and Earl C.
