Asbestos is a highly important industrial mineral for which there are practically no substitutes. In view of the fact that the demand for asbestos should continue to increase for some years to come and that research is developing new uses for all varieties of asbestos, an appraisal of North Carolina's anthophyllite asbestos resources seems desirable at this time.
It is the purpose of this report to present as complete an appraisal as possible of the anthophyllite asbestos resources of the State. A combination of several factors indicate that the prospects appear very favorable for developing an important asbestos producing industry in the State within the next few years. It is hoped that this report will contribute materially to the development of such an industry. Includes seven plates. By S.G. Conrad, W.F. Wilson, E.P. Allen, and T.J. Wright, 1963. 61 pages
